The Coach Behind the Blueprint
Empowering Youth Through Proven Strategies
Dr. Cecilia Hegamin-Younger
Founder & Principal
Dr. Cecilia Hegamin-Younger has spent more than fifteen years sitting across from people at turning points in their lives, helping them figure out not just what to do next, but who they're becoming while they do it.
As an academic success coach at a medical university, she works daily with some of the most driven, high-achieving young people in the country — students who have already cleared every academic hurdle put in front of them, and who are now discovering that grades alone were never going to be enough. She has watched brilliant, hardworking students struggle with the same invisible gaps: how to build real relationships, how to find and use a mentor, how to carry themselves with confidence, how to know where they're actually headed. And she has watched the students who closed those gaps transform, not just academically, but as people.
That coaching relationship is the heart of this book. Dr. Hegamin-Younger isn't writing from a distance. She is in the room with students every day, and she has learned firsthand what actually helps a young person move from anxious and uncertain to grounded and self-directed.
She brings a rare combination of credentials to that work: a PhD in statistics, a background as a legal advisor, and more than fifteen years of experience in evaluation and data analysis — work that has taken her into Fortune 500 companies, educational institutions, market research organizations, and health agencies across the country. She has also written extensively on the economic and health challenges facing Grenada and the Caribbean, including two books, Caribbean Adolescence: The Use and Misuse of Alcohol and Public Health Concerns of the Caribbean, that speak to her lifelong commitment to the wellbeing of young people and the communities that raise them.
Being Bold and Driven, the book from which this youth edition is adapted, grew out of her nationwide research into what separates thriving professionals and business builders from those who struggle. But it was her coaching work with students — watching gifted young people arrive at the doorstep of adulthood without ever having been taught the things that would matter most — that convinced her these lessons couldn't wait.
Bold Blueprint is her answer to the sentence she heard again and again in her research, from accomplished adults reflecting on their own younger years:
I wish someone had told me this when I was young.
Now, someone is telling you.
